Introducing My Law School Journey

How did I get here?  Well, it was a long and winding journey but I won't bore you with that.  Here are the highlights.

-Varsity Cheerleader = Speaks ones mind and is loud enough in a crowd to be heard

-World Traveler = Bored so took a backpack and trusted allies to travel the world

-Biochemist = I like math, hard challenges, and I love to read

-Police Officer = I blame there being Army on both sides of my family imbuing in me a drive to serve others as a staple in who I am at my core

-Law School = After seeing what officers see, I am now pushed within myself to look to a career after PD that embodies being a champion of those who created this great society and a nightmare to those that would prey on others within it...I don't exactly know where that will lead me in this Law School journey but I think it will be yet another prong that is what I was put on this earth to become.

Join me if you will as I lament, rejoice, inform, and become on this new adventure...

Public Interest Law Foundation President

As a 1L (before Covid & the move to Westcliff) I had dabbled in a few clubs to see what my true interests were.  I also worked a semester as a Student Representative for Westlaw & our Library (This were amazing experiences that led to much needed "how to" knowledge for law school). In my 2L year at WSUL I am now active in several clubs I truly saw as .... well....me.

I am honored to be the President of the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) group here at Western within one of those groups.

Let's take a look at what PILF has to offer.

Eating healthy & staying fit has it's challenges

As we all know, working out and eating right are so far down on the totem pole of priorities that our well being, focus, health, and happiness can suffer and leave us frustrated, anxious, and downright cranky.  No matter what turns my life takes I want to prevent as much of those causes and ramifications as I can (and that bastard Covid is NO HELP as my gyms are closed and masks suck to run in.  SOOOOOoooo, what I can do is eat healthy.  How does one do that with no time and limited funds?  I would love to know your ideas on it to share with our community!  I am currently using HomeChef and it's pricey but the time I save and the ease of use (I have ZERO culinary skills...I burn WATER!!) keep my fuzzy bunny hubby and myself healthy and satiated.  I'll put the link below and any others you folks think would be helpful here.

My Current Interests in Law

01.

Constitutional Law

This choice is focused on the fascinating ideas surrounding how the founding fathers ideas of our county manifested into the Constitution, evolved into our Rules, Amendments and Statutes for our Government.  This is an area of great fascination to me.  Once I take this class I will further this area of the site to see what coalitions I can build and if my interest here continues into a career or maybe just pro bono work as a side hobby.

02.

Police Custody

This choice is based on my experience within my current career.  As I learn the law from a lawyer perspective we will see if I wish to pursue a career here.   I will further this area of the site to see what coalitions I can build and if my interest here continues into a career on this subject matter as this law school journey continues.

03.

Criminal Law

This choice follows the Police Custody interest. Once I take this class I will further this area of the site to see what coalitions I can build and if my interest here continues into a career.

04.

Business Law

This choice is focused on the fact that I loved Professor Hendricks class on Business Associations.  I think for any career moving forward the business aspect cannot be overlooked unless one wishes to only ever work for someone else and does not wish to journey out on their own in an attempt to create their own company and wealth.  I will be taking a look at an internship in this area as I believe it invaluable to my law school journey.

“No client ever had money enough to bribe my conscience or to stop its utterance against wrong, and oppression.  My conscience is my own -  my creators - not man's.  I shall never sink the rights of mankind to the malice, wrong or avarice of another's wishes, though those wishes come to me in the relation of client and attorney”

— Abraham Lincoln, Recollected words of Abraham Lincoln

“The good lawyer is not the man who has an eye to every side and angle of contingency, and qualifies all his qualifications, but who throws himself on your part so heartily, that he can get you out of a scrape”

— Ralph Waldo Emerson
